Students travel virtually along Route 66, tackling real-world challenges through the Girls Save The World™ Innovation Hubs. At every stop, they practice leadership, build a prototype, connect their work to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and add new evidence to their Purpose Portfolio™.

What is Leadership in Motion: Route 66?

A six-week virtual leadership and STEAM experience where students travel through six “city stops,” solve real-world challenges, build a team prototype, and strengthen their purpose, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Who can participate?

Students ages 11–18. Parent or guardian consent is required for students under 18.

When does it begin?

The program begins September 30, 2026, with Prototype Day on November 14, 2026. Virtual meetings will be held via Zoom (the link will be shared via a calendar invitation) - Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. CST.

Are all sessions mandatory?

Students must attend at least five of the six sessions to receive 90% of the available leadership hours. Attendance at the in-person Prototype Day is required for students in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Students living outside North Texas may submit a video presentation instead.

How much does it cost?

Registration is $25 per student for the six-week experience. Students selected for the pilot participate FREE with an approved Pilot or District Code.

Are supplies included?

Students may use common supplies from home or purchase an optional $25 GSTW Supply Kit. A supply list will be provided before the program begins.

Is the program virtual?

Yes. Students complete six virtual Route 66 city stops and participate in guided leadership lessons, team activities, and innovation challenges. All learning sessions will be available through GSTW's proprietary Campus of Purpose-OS platform.

What will students create?

Each team will develop a prototype, pitch its solution, and create a one-page public policy brief. Students will also collect digital postcards and evidence of their work for their Purpose Portfolio™.

Do students need a team to register?

No. Students may register individually, invite friends to build a squad, or be matched with a team.

What do students receive for completing the program?

Students earn six eligible service or personal-development hours toward the Congressional Award, receive shareable digital accomplishments, and advance to the April 22–24, 2027 Girls Save The World Global Youth Summit at EarthX.

Are scholarships or awards available?

Yes. The winning team will receive a shared $250 scholarship award on Prototype Day.
